IDM PROBLEMS: My downloads from some sites stop at 99% and I cannot complete them. Why is this happening?
1. Such problems were with old versions of IDM with some sharing sites, particularly with Rapidshare. We have fixed them in latest version. This why please make sure that you have installed the latest version of IDM.
2. If updating IDM does not help, then conflicts between IDM and other applications can cause such problems. For example, firewall/antivirus/internet security programs that control internet traffic and all files (or file parts) that IDM writes on disk and can mix sockets and file descriptors. Especially when IDM uses several connections with many read/write operations. Firewall and antivirus always go-between IDM and real file on hard drive two time and can make it corrupted at any state.
In particular, we confirmed such problem with some versions of Eset NOD32 or Eset Smart Security. Our users constantly had problem with corrupted files, but problems disappeared after change of antivirus. Also problem disappeared if they set one connection in "Options->Connection" IDM dialog. Then antivirus did not damage files.
In addition, some firewall and antiviruses may be not ready for Windows Vista or Windows 7 and work incorrectly.
3. Maybe your provider uses some external proxy that causes problems.
If you cannot fix the problem, try to set "1" as "Default max conn number" (arrow 1 on the image) option in "Options->Connection" dialog and press "OK" (arrow 2 on the image).
